Discover unique techniques to design and create your own whimsical 3D macrame characters.

‘I am most inspired by challenging designs and pushing the boundaries of what you can do with fiber.’

An engineer by trade, Mikaela Szumigraj stumbled upon macramé one winter in search of a hobby to fill her free time. Using her technical background, Mikaela crafts truly unique and whimsical 3D sculptures out of rope. Through her studio, String Theories Fiber Design, she creates everything from macramé kits to wall hangings and soft figures.

In this online course, Mikaela takes you through the process of making a 3D sculpture out of macramé. You can make whatever you please, perhaps a whale, a bird, or even a penguin. She takes you through all the knotting techniques, teaches you to choose the right materials and measure them correctly, and finally how to put it all together.

To learn more with Mikaela, check out her other Domestika course, 3D Macramé for Botanical Wall Hanging.
