“In this lesson, I want to show you how I go about creating a thumbnail sketch and why I think it's an important initial step in our paintings and sketches. I always carry a simple little sketchbook. This has toned paper in it. It's nothing precious. It's nothing expensive. There's no pressure. If I make a mistake, it doesn't matter. I'm not ruining anything interesting.
